English is a Hard Language English has to be one of the hardest languages to understand. Read the paragraph below and try to understand the meaning. Two individuals proceeded towards the apex of a natural geologic protuberance, the purpose of their expedition being the procurement of a sample of fluid hydride of oxygen in a large vessel, the exact size of which was unspecified. One member of the team precipitously descended, sustaining severe damage to the upper cranial portion of his anatomical structure; subsequently the second member of the team performed a self rotational translation oriented in the same direction taken by the first team member. In plain English what does this translate to? you tell me
jack and jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water? Jack fell down and broke his crown, jill came tumbling afterwards? something like that?
Yeah, I can't believe such people that think I have to many grammatical errors on my sites, I mean, what do people expect. English sucks big time!
maybe something like the jack and jill story. nice catch up there lorein! maybe they just used exaggerated wordings... to make the story long.
wow you guys got it pretty fast good job it is exactly that but be honest did you use a dictionary or you really have nice vocabulary like that?
How difficult you percieve a language to be depends on what your native language is. For English speaking people you will find it easier to learn German and to speak (not read) Japanese. If you speak Spanish then French, Italian, and Portugues will be quite easy for you. English will as well. I could go on but this is not a linguistics forum.
I got the jist of it pretty quickly, but the nursery rhyme took a few seconds. Its written like many foreigners speak english. Way too complicated to get across a very simple thought.
Don't get me started on Russian... it's impossible.... But IMO, Chinese is the most difficult to write.
hey Russian is pretty easy, you can easily learn it, except that the alphabet is way long and many people have trouble saying my Russian name but overall Russian is simpler than Chinese. Does any one here speak Swedish?
I found the alphabet very easy to learn. I taught myself to read it in a weekend. But the grammar... That's another story. Without fail, every time I attempt to use a new word, I inevitably use it incorrectly. It's frustrating.
If you where to say the same thing in the English most people speak these days it would say something like.. Two geezers went outta town, t get sum beer, a 10 litre jug o d stuff. One geezer fel over, knacking his ed. Cos o that the other geezer tried to elp but e cocked up big time.
Well, I'm just glad I don't have to learn any other languages. One of the few remaining elements of the British Empire is the fact that one out of four people in the world speak English to some degree. The only language I think we would need to learn over the next few decades is Chinese.... in UK, people of Chinese descent are already encouraged to learn it soley for the reason that it will be important for trade negotiations in future.
care to try asian languages? like chinese, japanese and korean language.... chinese has so many languages like cantonese, fukien, mandarin etc. but i think it would be hard for me to learn german
I speak Russian and Spanish (a bit). I also got a B for my GCSE French but i cant remember anything now. Also Ukranian and Belarussian are easy to understand 1s you know Russian. On top of that i used to speak a bit of Estonian and tried learning Japanese but gave on early stages. Oh and then its German that i did for one term back in school and hated it. English is perobably the easiest one.
