English domain

    Twenty-twelve.eu - can some one give me an estimated appraisal?

    I expect a lot of american people will tell me it's worth "nothing" to be precise, so I'm asking for people who live in england to comment on this... simply because it might have relevence to a special year:rolleyes: as far as us 'english chaps' are concerned (not trying to break any TM laws:cool: )... and the fact that is is .EU so there can't be any interest from american market :)

    Thanks,
    Mike

    The olympic games are on in 2012, but that's all I can think of (and it would be much better if you had 2012.eu). The domain is pretty worthless really.

    You shouldn't get in any trouble for relating the two, provided that you don't use the logo without permission (there's a whole Act of Parliament covering trademark stuff for the games) or claim to be a sponsor. I think twenty-twelve.eu isn't something that people will remember though.

    I wouldn't have thought it would be worth too much. It won't receive any type ins, and it's not really brandable. Your best bet is to develop it and then sell it as a developed site.

    Develop it as what? :(

    Can I make it into something related to the 2012 games, or would that be a little naughty?:eek:

    No that would be fine, a forum would be a good start, maybe a news site or a brochure site about the olymipics.

    I just had a little search in google, there is supposedly a big theory about the world ending in 2012 (first I've heard of it...), maybe that's a better theme for now, until we get closer to the games?

    Personally I'd stick to the Olympics, I think you'll find it easier to find and generate content for the site as well as generating higher traffic.

    Worthless as an undeveloped domain.

    Okay, thanks Matt, I was thinking along the same lines actually, considering I know nothing about 'Apocolypse' theories hehe.
    Thanks for the advice, i'll get onto it :)

    As I've already said, provided you don't use any of the olympic trademarks (particularly the logo) or claim to be officially associated with the games then there's nothing to stop you making a site about London 2012. You've got plenty of time to develop a good site and then sell it on in a few years when it's closer to the event and public interest in it is higher.

    Thanks!
    I know this is the wrong forum topic to post in, but it is relevant to the current discussion;
    I just tried downloading the only phpBB olympic template I could find (http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=221632) and it doesn't unZip. Can some one help?
