Fabio Capello has just named his 23 man England squad for the World Cup..... Goalkeepers: Robert Green (West Ham United), Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth) Defenders: Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham Hotspur), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham United), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa) Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), James Milner (Aston Villa), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City) Forwards: Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Hope we don't get any injuries amongst the strikes, only 4 is too few, and is Heskey really one of the top 4 strikers in the country.
Rooney alone might be enough if Capello plays a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-5-1 system with a solitary forward Heskey's kinda lucky given his scratchy form for Villa, but I guess his past performances during the Capello era allowed him to stay. Hard luck for Dawson and Parker.
Yes it is shocking news for anyone, We seen Darren Bent season with Sunderland and he is best striker after Rooney! If Rooney have fitness issue then England will pay cost to not having Bent in team.
