"LONDON (CAP) - Just days after 15 British sailors returned home following their capture in Iranian waters comes word that British officials are demanding that Iran return a set of tools the country borrowed from England some years ago. Iran denies they even have the tools.

"Oh, please, we gave those tools back, like, forever ago," said Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. "We even threw in a 15-piece ratchet set as a gift to the British people. How quickly Tony Blair forgets."

However, according to the British Prime Minister, it is Ahmadinejad who is forgetting. Blair said that he let former Iran President Mohammad Khatami borrow a number of tools shortly after both took office in 1997, including a skill saw, a small band sander, and a Craftsman 10-piece screwdriver set. But Blair said those tools went unreturned after Khatami left office in 2005.

"The past two years have been very difficult," Blair said as he fiddled with a rusty plummer's wrench. "Much of Downing Street falling into disrepair because we don't have the right tools for the job. I'm sick and tired of having to jiggle the handle on the pan. I just want it fixed."

Reports circulating in the British media claim that the real reason the Royal Navy was patrolling waters off the coast of Iran and boarding merchant ships was to locate the missing tools. According to Sky News, one of the detained sailors reported seeing a British-made lathe on one of the ships just before they were captured.

White House press secretary Tony Snow said the Bush administration is monitoring the situation, and that President Bush has offered to let Blair borrow his own personal set of Playskool "I'm A Big Boy" tools until Iran does return theirs."
