Engines that crawl phpBB without mod_rewrite

    Greetings,

I use phpBB, and in the last few days I saw my adsense ad's impressions drop on my archive channel. I checked, and saw that my dynamic urls are listed upon my archive url (with mod_rewrite). I didn't even know that Google was already crawling phpBB dynamic pages. Shame on me...
So I'm thinking in removing session ID's to my dynamic pages, and kill the archive some days/weeks from now.

But what about other engines? Do they all crawl dynamic pages, or are the archive good for they?
Yahoo only have my archive pages, and MSN only have my dynamic pages.
If I kill the archive, I will loose all Yahoo visitors. If I keep it, I have duplicated content. Will Google penalyse it, or do they understand this problem?

    This isn't good...

Hum... I will install the Able2Know mod, instead of the one I have now. Maybe it will fix everything...

Yes I suggest doing a2k mod for everything but mod_rewrite.

mod_rewrite is not really a great idea since the only thing it will help is having keywords in URL but since that doesnt weigh much I would not do it. Its better not to have it and avoid duplicate content IMHO.

    Hi Aaron,

Yes I've lately read that mod_rewrite isn't a good idea, but when I installed the current mod (one or two years ago), there were no problems, and Google loved it :) First place for some very good phrases.
But now it seems it no longer likes it, so it's time to remove it (the archive). I just hope Yahoo successfully crawls my site with the Able2Know mod.

All of the major engines will index phpbb urls without mod rewrite.
