Is there a way that Contest Holders can edit their contests to say 'ended' or something of this nature?
I notice many are ended, and us that sometimes submit end up wasting our time because it does not appear to be ended.

    Thanks, :)

Yes. Contest holders can use the "Report" button asking the moderators to close the thread. I had done it in the past to close when users started submitting the logo for a thread which was 1 year old.

I think the participants should use their diligence before they start designing.

    1. Check when the thread was started.
    2. Read the whole thread before you start designing for the contest (so that you get to know if there is already a winner or some additional information on the design).
    3. If the thread is idle for more than 2-3 days, I think its better to PM the OP and then start off with the work.
    4. If the OP is not online for more than past 3-4 days, then its better to not start with the work.
    5. Also, its not always the duty of the OP to close the thread. If you are a winner of some contest and if all the transactions are over, you may also report the thread to be closed.
