We have products viewed on our homepage with a small description beneath the product. I want to break this with ellipsis (...) to get the customer clicking the product. (read more about this product link). But we only want to do this if this is not affacting anything of SEO for Google. If Google does not like this we will not do this. I cant found anything about this item on internet despite that this is a mutch used thing on e-commerce websites. Can somebody answer me with good arguments, maybe some sources where your arguments are based on.. ? Thanks!
This has no negative effect on Google ranking. I guess you have seen the same 'click here for more' option in many blogs. Google somehow knows that the page on which user is directed is related to the same website and neither this harms your SEO nor gives any special benefit.
