Ok, let it be known that I am the first person )in my knowledge) to have brought this up. I am predicting that with the upcoming release of my directory that will cause a directory revolution. We will see the end of the timeline listings. There will be no such thing as, monthly, yearly, permanent listings. My visitors will pay to have their site reviewed for an indefinite period of time. If the content changes, or the site loses value.... de-indexed. I will not guarantee any amount of time for a listing, I will not charge for annual review charges. So long as your site is jam packed with valuable information, your site will stay listed. My guess is that after Yahoo gets wind of my directory, they will change their review policy to an indefinite period of time (a man can wish can't he )
You are going to have to have a very extensive policy page detailing what your definition of 'value' is, and most people won't bother reading it and most probably won't like the idea that they are paying for a review and you might find their site less valuable next week and drop it. Also how often to you intend to review all the sites to see if they still have the same 'value'? My prediction is that this will not cause a 'directory revolution'. Bottom line is folks are not going to feel to comfortable parting with money if there is a chance you might remove their site based on some sort of arbitrary 'value' judgement.
that's simply a permanent listings. It is common sense that permanent listings can get removed if the website changed and no longer respects the guidelines.
Obviously it would take a large change to be de-indexed, just as Google does. This alone, isn't goign to cause a directory revolution, that has already started. I am just one of many that is providing fuel to the revolution fire.
I also agree with mhamdi, it is common practice to remove a listing that no longer meets basic guidelines. The only 'extra' thing you put in is the "value" thing and that won't cause a revolution unless you count folks not wanting to submit because of it
When i visit a directory to submit a website, and it says monthly listing, that I am going to have my link for 1 month no matter what. So if the site goes from a fishing information site, to a pharmaceutical site, it should still be listed for that month. So why would anyone say, monthly, yearly, or permanent links?
You will not find any monthly options on directories. It's simply called permanent listings - ( links that will stay till the life of a directory/owner ) will like to see your directory revolution
I have annual or permanent listings, but in my terms it says: We reserve the right to remove your listing without prior notification. Which is basically what you are saying, isn't it?
Yes similar, but without the annual/permanent wording, I don't want anything that is remotely misleading.
I know what is your directory's domain name ,just take the word "index out of your domain name" ,then the remaining word will better suit you.
since you are talking too much crap about your directories. Your directory will be an another ordinary one unlike you do a Dmoz like directory.
This isn't all about my new directory, it is about the directory community. Yeah I say my directory is going to be part of a revolution, but it is just going to be a part of something that has already started, before me.
