A new survey says childhood ends at 11. Are the tweens are growing up soon.

Innocence is such a precious gift for those who have lost it. For centuries, the image of the child has been that of innocence personified. It's a different story now. Some feel that innocence has been erased from the so-called young adults (in advertising lingo, these are tweens, aged between eight and 12 years). A recent UK based survey concluded "childhood these days ends at 11". Bakc home, there have been enough instances to suggest th same.

Confident, spoilt for the choices, sometimes pamered and irreverent. Is that how a child is today in the world? In their quest ot grow up fast, they are heading to salons for beauty care, going to gyms to tone up, participating in kiddie shows on TV and buying branded apparel. A global repoet says, 'tween spending worldwide is higher that ever at an estimated US $170 billion and still growing.

Thanks to smart marketers who have discovered that treating tweens like teenagers is a lucrative business, you see tweens refecting traditional toys in favor of adult productss, like mobile phones, video games, online chat and music players.

    Yeah,
Kids are definitely growing up to fast and getting knocked out of the best times of their lives. You hear so much over tobacco companies targeting younger groups of kids and the governments get right in the middle of that.
I honestly think sometimes, that the government should get onto companies that target young children with clothes that are too old (sexy) for them and other things that steal their youth.
As for cell phones, I'm glad that mine has one, at least I can always get in touch with him and know where he is. But, it's definitely not just the movies and video games our kids play that the government should be griping about!
