Many fellow dp members own directories. Lot of people saying Google is changing the page rank algorithm. With changes like this they will find out who are offering paid links, and who are buying. Also they will penalize sites like that. I personally bought quite a few high pr links from some directories. What you guys think will happen to us?
This topic has been discussed several times and it basically boils down to whether you are a QBC who is sellings links, or a serious Directory Owner who is providing a review of a web site for inclusion in a directory. I would suggest trying a search to find out more information as I say, this has been discussed over and over.
The quick answer to that is that you have wasted your money and if I was you I would be very pissed off. But on the other-hand its not all bad. We can now start looking for a life after PR. There are only two reasons to pay for a link. The first is traffic. Ask yourself whether you are going to get enough quality traffic from a Yahoo listing to justify paying them $400 a year. The other question you need to ask concerns the value of a back link to your directory. Dont be conned into believing that PR or PS or any other arbitrary value is going to add weight to the strength the link. Its just not true or leastways not true of any directory being punted on any of these forums. A link is a link and the question you are asking is how long is the directory going to be around and what is its long term value.
