Encrpyted Links in Footer ?

    I have seen many Sponsor a WP Theme threads in BST.But I wonder the advantage of encrypted links in footer ?

    Is it useful in SEO ?

    The links are added in a coded manner so that it is not easy to remove them when some one uses that particular theme

    As far as i think they are useful from SEO point of view...

    I see.

    As long as the link is still crawlable there is potential to build a good volume of useful backlinks to your website.

    However I would imagine the effect of such a link may be dampened if Google can find a way of detecting it as a "template or theme link" because it is not a natural one that indicates the true popularity of a website.
