    Hi

Do you thing that enabling BBCode in link signatures to kickstart a forum is a bit risky and might attract to many lurkers.

    Cheers,

Yeah it could be a problem, might be better to enable it after they get some posts.

I am not sure if it is a good advice. I just registered in the forum in his signature and found out that I can't have signature so I didn't make single post. I help users in many forums, but it requires a lot of time and energy. Forum owners get quality content thanks posts made by people like me. So it is fair to offer some benefit like the signature.

Hi Affiliate. I noticed you registered, thanks. Are you sure about not being able to create signature links? I thought I had it enabled.

I agree with you on the fact that most of the forum posters are doing the right thing, and but that I mean they join the forum, post and discuss and for that they get two rewards.

    - Answered questions and getting extra knowledge
    - A chance to promote their site via signature links

I see the signature link now, thank for your post :)

I would suggest to post some rules on your forum. I tried to find them using the search option and on the common places, but didn't found them. So if there are no rules, if you create a thread describing what is allowed and what is not, it will improve the communication between you and your members -- they will simply understand what you are expecting. If there are the rules, just make sure that they can be easily found :)

No Probs. I created Affiliate Programs forums. Regarding the rules, that is the next step I have start working on.

To tell you the truth I hardly read the rules. But I guess when you join new forum websites, you want to do the right thing and you should really read those...

In fact, I usually don't read them too. I am member of many forums and I understand what is generally expected from the forum members. However, there are some special situations when people may search for the rules:

    1. If they want to set up signature, they can search for the information if there are some restrictions (how many links, font size, etc.)

    2. If the forum has advertising section there is usually a rule of a few posts which the members need to make before they can advertise. Also, most forums allow to advertise e. g. once a week. The forum rules are great place where you can clarify what you allow to your members.

    Good luck :)
