I have many pdfs and want to restrict access to direct link, in the mean time allowing viewing of html page with embeded pdf. I read similar posts and it appears that it is impossible to do.My Problem is: How do I get the PDF content indexed, and send users to the embedded version (I use for embedening)? 1) Does google index content inside tag? 2) Can I do a MOD_REWRITE redirect that says "If you are coming from Google, instead of going directly to the PDF, go to a page with the PDF embedded? I don't think that it is cloaking because I'm displaying same content only in different manner, but I didn't found how google handles such situtations. 3) How above operations will affect my ranking, based on keywords in pdfs.
