Hi, I currently run a site which has about 50 youtube/MTV music videos embedding on it. I recently recieved a letter from ASCAP saying that they wanted me to buy a license. I was wondering if I needed to buy this license to operate my site or if it is possible to just shut down my site instead of buying a license? Also the site gets very little traffic maybe 10 vistors a day.

ASCAP does not mess around. If they have written you they will pursue their rights with further letters and a court filing if necessary.

Yes, shutting down your site would be an option that would end their pursuit.

It will be a lot cheaper if you shutdown your site than getting a license.

I wouldn't mess around! Get your license and it will alleviate a lot of headaches.
