I notice there are a number of websites around that simply provide a collection of entertaining videos from websites like youtube, google video, etc etc. These videos are just embedded straight from youtube I think. Are there any copyright issues with that or is it a case of once they upload them to a website like that they accept they will be used freely by other websites? Also, I see some people branding videos, where they download a video, stick their name on it and upload it again (either on the same website or on a different one) surely this can't be allowed?
tone by forcing advertisers to "opt out" if they don't want there stolen content displayed.... so that kind of sets the tone for everyone else i guess
If you're simply streaming the video, you could be okay as nothing is hosted on your site. I don't know if there's been any court cases against a site owner for streaming content (that's legally allowed) from a provider. As to the re-branding of videos, that's copyright infringement unless they have been extended that right by the copyright holder, which they most likely haven't.
adds another crime... the video is stolen and posted on you tube ,you grab the video rebrand it and push it on.like selling a stolen car and blaming it on the guy who originally stole it; after all he's more guilty than you are..your just selling it.if the shit hits the fan your both in trouble. But since no one has prosecuted utube yet no one is too worried .probably end up like napster... make example of a few people and move on to free content as usual.
