If you have embedded a video(which dont belong to you) which is on a streaming video site like youtube etc .. and the video might have infringed the copyright, are you liable ?
Yes, you can be held liable for "contributory infringement" - although if you're talking about only youtube, I would suspect they would deal with youtube and not your site.
thats what i thought too since the copyright material doesnt actually reside on my web server that is to say .. but im not sure if theres something called "spreading" copyright materials ...
actualy there is something similar , even if you do not host the videos... if you stream movies and that sort of stuff you could get in trouble
In my own view piracy is now tolerated since Apple released Ipod allowing podcast/share musics and movies. I ask a lawyer about it and he told me that podcasting is legal because it's sharing your own music/movies your not reproducing a new copy and as long as your using it for personal use. It will be much safer if you just put the link rather than embedding the videos to your site. BTW! What happened to the case filed against youtube?
