I have found a few good youtube vids which i feel will add content to one of my sites. Will using an embedded player be viewed as copying content? I don't want to get penalised.

hmmm - doubt it - i dont think there is a penalty as such for such a thing - essentially as long as the vid is relevant - and you want it on your site... then put it on your site...

i wondered how they would tell that a vid is dupe -- i imagine it would be down to the time on the vid and i have read that G will now index vids - those with speech over them...

If you like the vid -add the vid and post a none dupe conent post below it - thus defining the vid further... and thats not dupe - the vid is then the subject of the blog post...?

I suppose not. When you upload a video to youtube, you can choose if you want to allow embedding or not. If you, as publisher, allow it, I don't see why anybody would object. Always good to credit the source, of course.
