Emailing ö ??

I have an order and the customers email address ends with:
    -köppen.de

My mail program wont send using the ö and if I change it to an "o" that bounces back, I have webmail for my email a/c so I tried emailing using it but that bounced; bad host/domain syntax:

Does anyone know how I can send an email using that funny o or is there a replacement on a standard keyboard for it?

It needs the semi-colon (;) at the end.

My mail programs wont let me send mail using
    ei-köppen.de

    Error sending message:
    Bad address syntax
    Error: no valid recipients

Maybe its just a wrong email address?

Nah, the email adress is right. That's the new IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names). People always said this will come along with heavy problems in all the programs, which have to handle with non-latin characters... Well, now we are at this point ^^.

So either you get a new email client, or you won't be able to contact him.

Well, since "ö" is a german letter, I guess german providers will most likely be able to deliver such mails. gmx.de is a german provider, and i think they even have an english platform at gmx.net - but i'm not sure.

    try it out :)

//edit: Well, since hotmail is from microsoft, I guess they already implemented IDN support, too. Could try hotmail, too :)
