I had a question. What is the potential issues and risks one can run into if they want to offer free email accounts (like yahoo, hotmail, gmail)? I know it's not easy to do so, but I want to make sure. Thanks... Oh, what are some benefits also?
one main issue is SPAM. There will always be the one who will SPAM the hell out the server and get your mail server blacklisted, which means all of the other email users will be blocked as well. this is one issue I can think of.

Spam, Spambot registration, In active accounts, Violation content stored (if you have leased the server from data center) by your users, server is used for illegal activity etc. Kailash
Thanks all for your responses. Just a quick question about this point you made... Will this (spamming, etc) happen only particularly for email accounts, or for other services as well such as forum accounts, blogs, etc?
It can happen for email accounts but people can use the email accounts in forums, blogs etc. and they misuse the email account to send unsolicited emails. Kailash
