I am looking for some tips and generating an email marketing list,

There are a few ways.

1) Build tons of content sites and require the user to put in their email address before they get access

2) SIgnup with a company like Copeac.com you can offer email submits to affiliates.

Be careful with the cheap email leads...trust me, you don't want to buy a list which was collected by spambots.

And maybe as linsys said collect data from sites,

Some pointers on the actual collection of emails would be good

E.g. on some sort of discount offer etc….

I'd highly recommend building your own list slowly. There are many marketing methods to help you creat a brand new list with trus relationship, and help you build it. It is the most profitable way.
