Glad that you asked about email marketing. It is commonly referred to as "Money in the list" by
most internet marketers who are making 5 to 7 figures income.

What happens is that you create an opt-in form to capture name and email addresses on
your website. Give a free Ebook or something that will interest your visitors in order to
exchange for their name and email address.

Once they have opt-in, you then create a series of followup emails
sending to them automatically using the aweber software, also known
    as the autoresponder.

As long as they stay in your list, you can promote any products
to them for life. Many internet marketers depends on their list of
more than 100,000 leads for a living.

They spend less money on advertising as a result.

I was talking to a friend of mine that emails. He uses op-in addresses from a company given to him but they take 50% after his expenses are paid. He was telling me to get started like he first did i'd need a $1500/month program plus a server for around $200/month plus domain names.. etc. So basically $1700-1800/month to get started. He sends out 150,000 emails per hour per server that he has...which is about 10 now. With one server he estimated that i'd make between $5000-6000 the first month from affiliate networks... I was looking at all his stats and stuff which looked pretty good... but spending $1800 right off the bat to "try it out" is quite a lot to me right now. I was looking to start smaller (around $200)... anyone mail this way? or do most people on here just build their own list?

E-mail marketing is really great when used in building your list. However, sticking to just one marketing vehicle could be time consuming and may not reap the best results. I think I have found a way to promote dynamism into any marketing venture online. I would love to help you out if you need any assistance. Have a nice day.

Look at sears and jcpenney and walmart, etc. they use lists. Have you noticed that they do single opt in and not double opt in. So you don't need double in every example.

I like to mystery shop/subscribe to my competitors emails. I notice what I like and don't like about each. Some mail too often. Some are always SELLING. I hate that and I'm a 30 year salesman. I'm looking for value, something worth reading or learning about.

    Then put together your plan.

If you aren't building a list off of your website visitors
then you are leaving thousands of dollars on the table.

Go to Mail Chimp's Web site; they have plenty of tutorials. You should also visit YouTube and type "email marketing tutorial" in the search box. YouTube has many useful how-to videos.
