Has anyone tried an email marketing campaign to promote their website. I have a non-commercial site and was thinking of email marketing but not just spamming tons and tons of emails. Rather, it will be focused niche emails to a specific target. Can anyone provide some success or failure stories? Any imput here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Well, you need to first develop your email list. Do you have one? Oh yea, it has to be a CLEAN list. Spamming is useless and can bring you troubles. Really, having a clean and reliable email list is 80% of your success.
yes a clean email list would be something i would develop not some spam list bought with 10k names for 5 bucks. It would be specifically focused and targeted to appropriate emails.
How do you plan on getting these.. nich emails? That would be a better idea to send less emails to more specific targets.. If you tried mailing lists, those work the best.
i would gather the emails and then place them into an excel spreadsheet and send out a uniform email. almost like spamming i guess you could say but my hopes is that they will not view it as so because it will be non-commercial and relevant to them. I am trying to build an online community and hope that this will help to promote the new website.
If it's unsolicitied then it's still spam mate; commercial or not. You need to get an Aweber.com or GetResponse.com account and start driving traffic to your site; those who sign-up for your newsletter or mailing list can be e-mailed until your heart's content. Colm
I highly recommend email marketing using Aweber. Develop a relationship with your list and you can continue to sell to them indefinitely. But don't always send sales pitches to your list. Mix it up. Send at least one newsworthy/content-filled email each week. Treat your list like gold and they will be more responsive when you do send offers to them.
Well said. Most of these so called 'INTERNET GURUS' spam their list like the waterfall of Niagra falls. Someone, like myself would take a different approach in pitching a product to my list. These gurus keep confusing these people. They are not only forgetting who their target market is but they always assume that the product will sell. Most of the time it sells because of the Marketing hype behind the product. Its best to keep things simple, neat and wonderful
thanks for the input, but i am just wondering are you talking about peopel that signed up on an email mailing list or are you speaking of emails that taken from a relevant site that you know is related to your site?
Are there more sites like aweber.com i could sign up for? Im looking to build a list of clients for my newsletter.
You can't send to email addresses that haven't specifically agreed to allow to to send them mail. It's probably best if you research the CANSPAM act which outlines the proper methods to collect and use email addresses, and details what needs to be in your emails to comply with the law (like a physical mailing address of the sender, and an automatic way to unsubscribe).
How do you email thousands of emails? Do you have your own email server or using somebody elses services to email them? What about the ISP?
