Hello, I have just recently started to dive into email marketing but I was hoping you guys would have some suggestions as to how I should proceed. Right now I have a fairly sizeable targeted email marketing list (tens of thousands of emails) and what I want to do is try and drive some sales from it. My first question is, is there any email program that you guys use to send out these emails all together? I understand that gmail only lets you send about 500 a day... What I really want to do is send them out all at once and also how I can minimize these emails being placed into the spam folder or marked as spam. Also, are there any resources/posts on this forum that you guys would recommend me taking a look at in regards to email marketing (how to format emails, send them, gain user lists, etc...). Help much appreciated!
Also, I have a dedicated server... Will this help? Are there any email restrictions that you know of from hosting?
I suggest you try Emma Email Marketing (myemma.com), as it is the only e-mail marketing service that I found was accredited by the BBB. It is hard to find a legitimate e-mail marketing service, but that was the only legitimate one that I found.
Are there any email responders that you can buy and install on your host? Better, yet any free ones out there?
I'm curious. How in the world did you get "tens of thousands of emails" if you weren't building a list? Email marketing is an art that shouldn't be taken lightly. There are plenty of books written specifically on it. One problem that I think you might have is that you don't know how to do it. So lets say you send your first email out to tens of thousands of people and just 1% report you for spam. Your web hosting company will probably shut you down. What you normally do when building a list is to get an autoresponder and have the people signed up to it. Of course you want to have your email series already prepared. I normally set it up to deliver the first 4 or 5 messages about every 3 days. The emails I send are purely good and helpful content and always contain some extra free bonuses. Never a sales pitch but I do include a link to my sales page in my sig. After that I slowly start trying to sell. Not hard selling at first. After 2 of these emails I start the hard sell and send those at 5 day intervals. The advantage of the autoresponder here is that you do not risk getting your site/domain shut down by you hosting company. And almost all decent autoresponder companies have a tool that tests all of your emails for spam. They rate them and tell you what the chance is of your messages getting through the spam filter. There are a lot of free spam checking tools on the web if you want to do it yourself. Just Google it. Good luck!!
Hi zeek, Thanks for the detailed reply. I was just wondering what autoresponder you use and how you set it up on your webpage? Or if instructions are included when you purchase the service? Thanks!
Hey chaladar Yes, instructions are provided and setting it up on your page is as easy as copying and pasting the code they give you on the page where you want it to appear.) I use Get response. Its cheaper and better (in my opinion) then aweber. Support is great etc. They have also come up with some good looking templates to use too. Good luck!!
i've used Constant Contact and was happy with them. Using an online service might be a better way to go... and how DID you get tens of thousands of emails???? what are you not telling us?
I use an Extractulater CL Pro 6. Its a list builder and processor plus mass mailer all in one. It works with smtp mail and gmail for sending. You can make a list and import it directly into the mailer to send to. You can also process/manage lists you may have made before you get the software in the built in data processing center.
