I've never really dealt with any form of email marketing, but I am trying to now learn more about it. I've read up on the can-spam act and such. I want to put together a mailing list ("Free funny video emailed to you daily", etc.). I've tried to get signups via CPC advertising in the past and was suffering from a pretty bad conversion ratio... averaged out to $2.50 per signup or so. So, here is my question. Can I purchase a large list of emails and send them all a confirmation email ("If you wish to subscribe just click here; if not, don't do anything and you'll never hear from us again")? Is this a legitimate way of getting new members? Thank you for helping an email marketing newbie
If you get the list cheap, they are crap. and even on the high end ones they only look at a 10% convert. Setup a site with some examples(made the site look nice), then use reviewme or payperpost to get other bloggers to talk about it.. Keep building up from their. Best,
Thanks for the info. I will definitely look into reviewme and payperpost. As far as buying a list and adding them to my list (with an unsubscribe button) I understand that most lists are pretty crappy, but is this even legal?
Focus on building a list of double opt in subscribers, reason is those types of leads are interested in what you have to say and recommend. Building a relationship and list at the same time is key to email marketing success.
