Email Marketing - Hosted Solution - Vs Server Solution

    Greetings,

My company has the need to send out multiple newsletters per month on different email lists. We have been using constant contact.

Due to the market space of our business it would be very easy to expand our lists to very large numbers of users. Our current list is 1500 names.

We did just acquire a web property that gives us another 12,500 names that we will need to mail to inform them of the new features and the new owners (and attempt to cross promote them into our main products)

Using constant contact seems very expensive for large lists. It is very possible for us to be at a hundred thousand double opt ins if not much higher due to our release of a major Facebook game and the purchase and rebranding of another.

Ok so much for the back story.
What is the most cost effective way of doing mailers to multiple lists?

Does anyone have suggestions on services such as mail chimp or constant contact or should I be looking at a server based solution and mail from my own domain. (which seems like a very major project as even on double opt ins I get spam flagged @ around 7% and it seems like the webhosts would have a cow if I got domains blocked as it traces back to ip and could impact there other servers)

Does anyone have any suggestions on the server software to use, preferably one my marketing team can design mailers in.

I am not looking for proxy/spam solutions....
