Email Marketing - Collecting Emails (How?)

I was wondering if anyone know a free software like wordpress where I can download and using it to COLLECT EMAILS.

Someone comes to my website, put in an email address and the system stores it in a mysql database. I don't care about the system sending the emails, I just want to COLLECT Emails.

    Feedbacks appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Woody~

I've got to tell you upfront that the only way you should be collecting email addresses is through double opt-in with a reputable autoresponder company. With the spam laws as strict as they are, buying lists or even collecting them on your blog without double opt-in is a dangerous business. All it takes is for a few people to complain about receiving an email from you and you can be in big trouble. That's why it's good to go with double opt-in, because you now have proof that they gave you permission to contact them.

I agree with CJMO - you should use an autoresponder, and make sure your potential email recipients opt in. Or, you'll open yourself up to spam complaints.

I have a video on using autoresponders successfully. If you or anyone would like to see the video, PM me and I will send it.

I know there is a free wordpress plugin that will create a form for your wordpress page but I am not sure of the mechanics of where it stores the email addresses (not a techie sorry). If you search for "form" on the plugins page you should find it. I prefer to use Aweber simply because they do have the double opt in method and the spam laws are getting so tight worldwide, so it pays to use a reputable company. They are still doing a $1 special for the first month so they might be worth checking out - you can always cancel your account before the month is up if it is not working for you.
    Best wishes
