My question here is how many directory owners do email marketing announcing submissions discounts?

I get emails from directories like BOTW.com and business.com announcing discounts and such and I was just wondering why many others don't do this!

There are so many directories out there where I go... "If there was a discount code I might submit"

I guess its not such a bad thing if its an email offering discounts etc, many people are angry at getting unwanted emails but i think an email informing you of something you may not want to miss would be fine.

Possibly webmasters are just so worried most of the time that they may upset someone with an unwanted email.

Not a bad idea at all.

But how many directories offer such special discounts???

Also, if you have lost of submission, mailing all of your clients can be a trouble especially if you are on a shared host.

To get such an "announcement" you must sub submit first ;) (at least one listing)

As mentioned, i wouldnt want to downgrade my reputation by mass mailing. Its ok if you have it in your TOS that they will recieve occaisional emails.
