I am looking into offering a free email service. I am wondering about hosting though. Anyone know of a good hosting company that allows these types of sites?

One of the easiest things to do would be to hook up Google Apps for your Domain to an API (if they offer it, I can't remember) then use any cheap webserver or just a registrar level MX record to route the mail to Google, then you shouldn't have any problems.

Google Apps can still do that. It doesn't necessarily have to be for personal use.

    go to gmail.com
go to settings then serach for advanced options there you can see google apps
you will only need the cost of domain , then you have to update its mx records from where you have got the email (free)
and you can have 50 accounts with 2gb space for free hosted on gmail but like

Many providers will limit the emails you can send per hour. It's a standard limit through out the industry.

Gmail or Hotmail hosted domains would be your best option as it provides everything including the software and hosting.

For those of you who would like a host, check my sig.
