Email hosting, what happens to the domains?

    Hi,

Got a question about those companies who offer email hosting. When they offer the email hosting they allow their customers to get their own personalised email addresses from their domain name eg

What do the email hosting companies do to the website eg web-master.com? Seeing as the customers don't get use of this do the companies put ads on the domains or what?

Cheers and interested to hear your answers

I'm guessing they put ads on it, or find some way to make money with the domain, probably either advertising "GET YOUR OWN EMAIL DOMAIN" or parked. It's also a possibility that they just use the domain as a marketing gimick to draw people to make their own domains, then profit (sort of like Gmail) on ads displayed within the email client. Kinda clever.

Thanks for the reply, I thought they might do something like that. Bit sneaky really ;)
