I am trying to forward all emails sent to a certain email address (the domain and mail of this address is handled by my server) to a hotmail address. I have set up all the forwarding in CPanel correctly. However any emails sent never appear in the hotmail account and they don't bounce either. I have tried forwaring to Gmail and other email addresses and it works with no problems. Are there some Hotmail settings I need to setup, is there something in particular I need to do on my server to ensure Hotmail will accept the messages? Thanks Daniel
Have you checked your Junk folder on Hotmail? Depending on your security settings, your mails may be ending up there if the sending address isn't in your whitelist. Forwarding mails is bound to create problems anyway, since it makes it harder to filter spam from the ham.
Yeah, I disabled junk mail control (or put in on low). Added the address to my whitelist. Checked Junk mail and it's empty.
perhaps your server emails are being blocked by hotmail? specialy if you are on shared hosting this happens quite often. (because of spam) Contact your hosting company, by checking the mail queue on the server they can underestand the reason and then take steps to correct it.
Have you tried forwarding to another mail client? Try Yahoo and see what happens. Otherwise it's an issue within cPanel.
@jipeto: I am the server owner. There doesn't appear to be any obvious problems with mail delivery on the server. The entire mail queue gets delivered. @rllunzmann: I have tried forwarding to: GMail -- works fine; A university email address -- works fine. Thanks for the help. Daniel
Well, I have similar problem with hotmail (as explained here - http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=667594 ). Not sure what can be wrong... anyway, Hotmail sucks.
Hey, did you know that new accounts of hotmail won't accept emails (forwarded or directly sent) from mail server that has no spf records? This could be the issue.
My server did not have spf records for any domains set up. Assuming I have set it up correctly, adding spf records didn't help either. If I ever come across a solution I will post it here. Thanks for all the help. Daniel
I'm having problems with email forwarding in cpanel too. I'm trying to forward a domain email address to a gmail address, but nothing is happening. In cpanel you can click on "Trace" to see if the email is resolving. What are you meant to see?
