Hey guys (and girls, too). I've read a good few posts on this matter and seen that the majority of solutions aren't that great. My idea probably is one of those ideas that only you think is great and everybody else thinks is stupid, but anyway, let thy voice be heard. On posts where someone is offering a service of such where replies like 'PM me', 'I'm interested', 'Give me the details'...etc...etc...etc are the likelyhood. Shouldn't there be some type of form, which those who are 'interested' can click a button to add their name or remove their name only - nobody elses. The OP would also be given full 'admin' rights over the list and could delete users from the list at their discretion. Yes, I know problems like these are very irritating, as are posts like this complaining about those posts - but it must be combatted, somehow. With such a solution, it would give users much less reason to leave a reply with what may seem pointless to everybody else, while at the same time reducing - to a certain extent - DP's technical resources. I could bet my life on it that new members to the community would still post 'PM me please' type posts, regardless if such an option was clearly visible. However, they'd soon wise up, right? Well, it's time for me to stop wittering on and let somebody else stand in the limelight. Spidey
It is a good suggestion for a custom mod. Based on the way the site has been working for the last month, I am not sure it can handle another mod. A tip of the hat for your thinking!
It's another interesting solution to the problem... but similar things have been mentioned before, and it still continues....
Yeah I hear what you're saying on the matter. The other problem being that some users - even though requesting you to PM them - have actually disabled the option for others to PM them. Seems stupid, but there you go. This would also eliminate wasted space on the servers from a) 'PM me please' posts and b) 'PM me please' PM's in both sender/receivers inbox and outbox respectively. Something has to be done sooner or later, the main question being - can the servers handle another mod?
Most people that do that have something to hide, or its against the rules such as "Affliated links" which they can't post. Yes it should be stopped. Not sure it will get approved
