EIN - If I Get One, Do I Have To Use it?

    If I get an EIN but than decide that I really don't need it will there be any penalty? Or would it not matter if I don't use it?

    I guess it depends on how you are filing your taxes--as a business or as an individual (or both)?

    well its a sole proprietorship so i guess both.
