Okay, We have checked all the obvious causes. IP addresses are correct, program linking and file sharing via TCP/IP are checked on both machines. Yet when we try to create an email account in EIMS we get the following error: Can't get the applications event dictionary (Error -2709) I seek the wisdom of the OptiMasters Thank you in advance. What version of Mac OS are you running? Have you reboot the machine? If so, open the Script Editor and see if you can open the dictionary for the application (EIMS).
OS X sometimes has some problems communicating via program linking to OS 9 machines (no idea why). Try rebooting both machines.
Same error message. Where is this dictionary that it speaks of in EIMS. I do not see one anywhere. Does EIMS Admin need to be open or logged in?
Okay ONCE AGAIN..... There is nothing in there called dictionary. Now I CAN use the script editor to open and view any readable documents such as the actual EIMS Server program where it shows the varioius functions of EIMS. So if THAT is what you mean by the dictionary then yes I can open it and read it
Try a simple script (in Script Editor) from the OS X machine like so: tell application "EIMS Server" of machine "[your OS9 machine address from your event setup screen]" activate end tell Code (markup): If that doesn't work outside of Optigold, then EIMS Server is not listening for events for whatever reason.
I think that gave me the clue I needed to find a needle in the haystack. Will report findings in a bit.
Well the result is that it starts asking where the application is on the filemaker server. That is not a good sign. And I have the IP address coded in correctly
In that case, you probably are going to need to talk to the EIMS developers. I don't have an OS 9 machine to test such a setup with, and in your case if your OS X machine can't (or won't) communicate to EIMS on the OS 9 machine in the simplest form (to just activate the app), Optigold is definitely not going to be able to communicate to it either.
