............recently a case has come up from Saudi Arabia where the court has discarded a divorce plea from eight-year-old girl married to 58-year-old man.

The girl’s mother filed a divorce plea on her behalf but the judge dismissed it saying that she (the mother) has no right to file such a case. And that the girl can only file the plea when she reaches puberty.

This is just a single case but the province is saturated with instances where young girls - who themselves don’t know the meaning of marriage - are actually being given away as wives to old men.

The so called educated men in Islamic nation are likely to nourish the disgusting practice of marrying off prepubescent girls. Fathers and guardians tend to sell their daughters into marriage just for few bucks, further abetting rape.

Instead of feeling guilty about it, poor families find this a profitable bargain, as they receive high bridal fees from the old groom; after all, religious hardliners acts as pillars to support the inhuman regime.

What a miserable life for these little girls....

Old (misleading) news. Find a better example. The saudi courts (or royalty) overturned the judges decision and granted the divorce. This case is closed.

 

If I was to be invited to such a wedding ceremony, I would bring viagra for the Groom and a lollipop for the bride as presents, I guess....

a-you should know that religion does not make a man do anything that he does not want. it is just an excuse that he uses to do what he wants to do anyway. you seem to make a mistake between excuse and cause. or trying to make others make this mistake.

i meant mankind. she wears that for one of two reasons.
a- she wants to
b-she is forced to by others in his society.
if it is for the second reason then it is for other people in her society to control her.
the man[male] has tried to control his female counterpart in all societies. from Israel to iran. from US to china. the weaker the male feels the harder this abuse of female.

This is not 1400 year old news, these child marriages happen in the 21st century in Saudi Arabia (and continue to happen in many muslim countries,) the country that claims to be Islamic and an example for other muslims to follow!

The religion does not force anybody to mary a child, but ISLAM DOES ALLOW IT!!! AND PEDOFILES AND PERVERTS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT AND RAPE YOUNG CHILDREN!!!

 

i stand by what i said about how i feel in this thread.
if you care about this subject why don't you try to stop the sex trips that a lot of Europeans take to far east.
try to join groups that try to enact laws that prohibits this. you know that most of these trips are for men to engage in sex with kids. and they are almost exclusively christian.

 

I agree with a small comment: the religion is not a reflection of the society but its interpretation to daily-life rules. The religion in itself, the "holybooks" etc' - are totally worthless and meaningless: only their interpretation by humans is what matters.

Truth777 pizzaman is right: it is not Islam's fault. The backwardness of (some of) the people who happen to believe in Islam is to blame for this. They could just as easily interpret the same text as "you should never marry a 8 year old". but they won't.

dont forget that just 120 years ago, christians in europe used to burn women under the charge of "witchery" - held responsible for the lack of rain. And when an epidemic erupt: it was the jews who were massacared- they poissoned the drinking water in the wells.

 

There are no reliable historical references as to what age Mary conceived. The New Testament does not say at what age she conceived.
You have to blame God for that.....

and about the 94 year old marriage prove it please from reliable source.

 

these interpretations are made because of the conditions on the ground. if the conditions are changed so will these interpretations.[of course not the pedophiles, but the laws that supports them]
we have seen this over and over in a lot of religions.
as people become more secure in their lives[ or comfortable. i really can not find the best word now] these changes will automatically become the new reality.
women gain more power and childeren more secure. views become more tolerant of the people that are different and so on.
