Why not use one of official exchangers instead? Sometimes that can be more expensive then exchanging with somebody directly, but you can be sure that you will not loose your money... There are many good exchangers, just make a little research about them before exchange to make sure that this is not fake. As for that case - how you've paid him? Maybe it's possible to make chargeback? Anyway, contacting support of e-currency, that you've paid to him might help...
