Hi All..... I am working on a auto portal. It is a huge portal having more than 6 sections as well so many dynamic generated content pages. Car Review section is one of them. This section contain 46 car manufacturer their cars and review for each models. We are getting these car review from one big review provider. We want to remove this section and all its pages as we came to know that the same content has been provided to more than 50 sites who is working on same concept on which we are working. This is the site for which we are working hard but facing problems in getting better rankings. I think this duplicate content may be creating a problem for us. May be Google filtering our site pages. Is it possible? And this is why I have decided to de-index /car-review/ section and so that all pages from this directory got de-index. I will use Google webmaster tool to remove /car-review/ section choosing remove directory from Google index to remove its pages. My question de-indexing pages in large quantity at once from such a big site does affect my current rankings of other sections and its pages? does remove this directory and its pages will affect adversely on ranking of other pages of same site? As always with Google the answer is - depends - on concrete situation. If those sites have a bit of PR, and they probably have (even if you can't see it) you will loose some link weight (I suppose they are all linking to your home page). But if you are really suffering a penalisation or dup-filter, removing the (penalisation)-reason, the positive effect might outrange loss of internal links to homepage. If you'd like, I may have a look into it.
Bad idea. Duplicates never a problem, problem is you do not have enough link weight to support your content, duplicate or not.
Ho DoDo Me, i am not getting you what do u mean to say? Do you mean duplicate content is not a big issue or my site to get rank well. If this is so I have a site where I plan to upload WP Blog, under the head News Section. Than i will post daily one news content there. Would it be a great idea? Aim of implementing News directory is to get listed for Google News section in Google. Thanks
sapanbhatt, the best solution will be not removing it, but making a spin of the review texts. Take the texts and rewrite them deeply. You will get a Google respect and a lot of visitors to these pages.
I do not think your website is facing the duplicated content issue but the domain authority itself. This is a pretty common for most forums type like website and they would be fine as long as all contents in the forum itself are not 100% exact similar, which is impossible even many threads may be copied and posted many places.
