    I doubt it would hurt anything. I mean, if you make a div 1px by 1px and put scroll bars on it, yes, you might get in trouble, but if you want to spam, there are certainly more effective ways to do so. :)

    I have used scroll bars in the past, and didn't notice any negative effects.

    I wouldn't think it matters either, search engines see all the html code, not just what's in the scrolls (probably what you were thinking).

    Are you referring to using frames on your site. Using a frame will create a scroll bar, which I would say is bad for SEO purposes. Otherwise if you are using a division based frame emulation or something similar, I don't think there will be any problem.
    Frames = Bad
    Divisions = Good

    I'm was thinking of using frames to hide data, as i I'm trying to improve the visual effect of a page for my company, it is picking up lots of keywords and it full of keywords, which i know is bad, but the site doesnt seem to have been put in the sand box yet, i have re designed the page but don't want to get rid of all the ugly content in one go, i was thinking about using frames, and them taking the scroll bar away which would loos the second part of the frame, then writing code to instruct the spider to read the frames.

    Will this work, is it spam??

    The companies current page is www.woodenflooringsales.com

    im putting up a new one at www.wooodenflooringsales.com/test/index.php

    it will be going on a differant domain http://www.woodenfloorsales.co.uk/ this domain has been registerd for as long as the other but never used.

    As said before, frames aren't crawled by Search Engines. They won't even look at the scroll bars....they look at HTML Codes mainly.

    Wow, the original page is pretty spammy - too many keywords. You could get hit for that. I wasnt able to see the newer "test" page - the page wouldnt load.
