Has anyone noticed a connection between certain search terms and filter=0? I have a site which is optimised for 3 different keyword phrases on the homepage, for phrase 1 am i filtered down by about 10 results, for phrase 2 filter doesnt seem to affect me at all and for the 3rd phrase the difference is over 100 places. It doesn’t seem to depend on how competitive the search term is either, as the 3rd phrase is the least competitive (10 fold). Its an old site, with no recent changes to the homepage and hundreds, if not thousands of back links. I wonder if it could be to do with a disproportioned amount of back links with these phrases in triggering some unnatural linking filter? I find it hard to believe it is solely a dup content filter, as surely for the same page if im am getting caught in a filter it would be by the same amount, or a least in proportion to the competition!
filtered?? I don't think you are making sense to anyone here. Do you mean to say that you are #10 in google for phrase 1? If so then you are not being filtered?????
debunked, have you used the filter=0 (in google), you can add this to your url after you have done a search - it's then meant to display results as they would appear before google have applied the 'filter' (supposedly removed duplicate pages etc). My point was if my homepage is being penalized by a ‘duplicate content’ filter, then this would be the same regardless of the search term?
I don't think so Sue. The other parts of the algo still have to rank your page for a term, so it would not make sense to me that it would be the same for different search terms...just that your site has some sort of filter being applied to it.
I don't think that filter thing is working as you think. There are many sites that are still not in the SERP with and without the filter that SHOULD be there. However, if you type your keyword in the search box x16, you'll see the non-sandbox results.
