How does Google view Title Tag changes, I would like to change the index title a few times a year to correspond with special events. How does google react to this? Also how long would it take for the new title tag to show up in the search results? Thanks
changing the title tag will badly effect on your website, may be your website get out of the serp. so it is advice you to not to change the title tag.
For each change of title tags, you might lose rank for the old keywords and it might take days to weeks for the page to rank higher up in SERPs for the new keywords.
Google will just recalculate your site, with new titles, that's it. It will take some time, though. I don't think penalties will occur (never occurred for me)
I think changing the title tag will somehow affect your ranking. If you are ranking really high right now with your current title tag then your current rank might go down if you change it, so its like building a new site, you have to wait again before Google index your site with the new title tag.
IMO, the most answers above are an over reaction. I have websites that I change the main page a few times a year, using fresh content and a fresh title. That site has always done very wel. You don't need Google's permission, and you don't need to worry if Google likes it or not. It is your website. If making changes is good for your business, don't worry about Google.
Changing your title is fine so long as you keep it relevant to your content. I have high ranking sites that I change the title of occasionally (slightly), and have never noticed a drop in ranking.
You shouldn't change your title because eventually you will get indexed for that title and ranked for it. If you change it, you might lose your rankings. And for the time span we can't tell whenever the spider will re-crawl your website, changes will be made. It could visit you twice a week like it could visit you once a month.
I think it would have an effect. Just the back links won't be able maintain the rank. Google seriously looks & evaluate the whole site.
I agree with longcall911. If your diligent keyword research reveals that you should make changes to your title tags, go ahead and make them. I tweak my title tags often, as I discover improved keyword ideas through using keyword research tools. In the long run, appropriate title tag changes will help you, not hurt you.
