Effective Websites for Online Marketing

I am very new at all of this. I want to have a website built for me for the purpose of affiliate marketing and possibly a blog. Because I am not a webmaster and not very computer savvy I am spinning my wheels. Ideally I would like a website constructed whereby it would take very little maintenance from me very user friendly. Here is what I "think" I know so far:
    1. I need a website that is SEO friendly
    2. The website should have unique content I should max my keywords.
    3. It should be done in PHP and Web 2.0
    4. A MySQL data base would be very good too.
    5. Maybe some Javax but not too much.

    Ok here is my delema:
    a) All quotes for a site like this are around $1,000 and that's in the Philippines.
    b) I will likely need a few blogs to compliment the site. More costs.
    c) I will need some intensive SEO if I want to get ranked or have allot of SERPS. Again more money laid out.

I have done allot of research in the last 4 months and I have not found a site that walks a person through all of this like myself. It's one thing to say, just ask the person you want to link to if they will put in anchor text for your site. Sure, anchor text. What keyword to I use? Where do I put it exactly? I would love to find a place where you could have this all done by someone at the same time have it explained. A kind of education plus work kind of scenario.

Lastly, do I need the website the above? Is there a way of going about that is cheap/cost effective and still SEO friendly? And, how different or can a blog generate traffic and be just as effective as a website?

    Sorry for all the questions,

the focus of the site will be to talk about affiliate marketing?? if so i would suggest a blog using Wordpres. it is very user friendly and you don't need to be an expert with coding or anything like that. also, there are keyword tools on the web to figure out which keywords you can try and target, just remember if your new at this not to target the highly competitive words because when you can't rank with them it can be a bit of a disappointment too you and you might want to quit the industry ;)

First off, you are focusing way too much on SEO. It should be done, of course, but it isn't that big of a deal. It is the luck of the draw in being ranked high on page one. There are untold thousands doing the same thing, and not everyone can fit on page one.

Just because you do the seo doesn't mean you wil land on page one in the engines.

And if, IF you are able to get there, most visitors coming in from search engines rarely buy. They are tire kickers, window shoppers.

Targeted ads, articles and word of mouth is what works.

Sorry, but that is the reality of search engines and seo.

SEO isn't a long proccess, nor is it rocket science to do. I can give you my link on how the so-called "experts" do it if you want. With the exception of link exchange, it takes only a few minutes to optimize each page.

As for builidng a site. There are programs out there you can buy for under $400 that you can use yourself. I used Frontpage to build my site, TheList.FM.

Go to electronic and computer stores to ask for such a site-building program.

You also have college students studying computers who are looking for work. They are a cheap way to get you going, too.

I got one for $15 an hour!

I would consider getting a cheap web host for less than $5 month, a domain name for under $10 and install Wordpress and go from there. You can add a couple free blogs on the side through places like Blogspot.

The hardest thing will probably be adding new and unique content on a regular basis. In my opinion this is by far the most important.

    a fellow Filipino?

Anyway, try to take things slow. Don't do everything all at once.
I suggest you to use Wordpress. It's the easiest CMS you can ever use.
Find a great domain name that would best compliment with the kind of site you want..
Next, find a good host.. you don't need a dedicated host when you're still starting.
You can try shared hosting.. and you can get a good deal (specially here in dp at about $10 per month).
Then try Advertising and Promotion. It really depends on how much you are willing to spend.
When it comes to SEO.. just try to learn .. experiment and implement.
I don't think there is a big need to hire an SEO expert.
No need to spend $1k all at once.
