Hi guys, I have been in the web industry for the last one year. We have quite a few content writers within our team who are confused about how to write articles that would itself attract links instead of them going for it by contacting people. I am working on a presentation with two of my seniors to clear their doubts and make their roles more enjoyable. Please suggest some ways that you have used successfully over the years to attract links. I am trying to compile a list of points that I would be sharing with them. Once it is complete I would also love to share it with you guys and get your feedback. Regards, Anand
If you're writing great content, the links will come. Make sure that the content is neatly organized and easy for a visitor to find. For example, one of the great things about blogs is that new content is always at the top, thus easy to find. Joomla (and probably other CMS's) similarly add new content to the top of its categories. It is also a good idea to target some good keywords in the content. This way people searching for those keywords can find your content. Include a "link to this aarticle" box and you will get a few links from them. Don't forget to add the social book marking buttons either! Getting a few diggs or technorati links will help greatly. Don't be ashamed to submit these articles either. People will tell you that auto submitters and semi-auto submitters are no good, but I strongly disagree with that. I use the article submitter from digixmas.com, and I personally recommend it. Submitting these articles to article directories will get you a few more backlinks, especially f they are good enough for someone to want to reprint them. The important part is patience. If the content is good and you make it easy for people to link to your page, the back links will come.
Tutorials or 'How to Guides' related for a niche usually get a lot of nice and natural links and they keep coming as long as your tutorials have something different to offer to the readers. Edit: Read some more link baiting techniques at http://www.blogstorm.co.uk/blog/long-term-linkbait/
