Hi, I've been working on a simple site I.ve made for printable kids masks. It's been live now for a few months and gets about 4 hits a day . I've read on forums about the importance of link building and I've approached kids craft blogs etc... for links but to no avail. I don't really want to join up to forums and post links as it's a bit spammy and I haven't got the time to join up to them and make real contributions. So my question is how do you go about link building to relevant sites? I haven't got the money to pay for links. The site is free and just has a bit of adsense on and one affiliate link. I'm not looking to make a fortune from the site, it's just a bit of free fun for kids and parents. But if it makes a bit of beer money and pays for itself that's cool. I just need to get it in the search engines and I don't have a clue what to do. So if anyone could give me some tips and tricks to getting it in them it would be highly appreciated! Cheers.
Have you tried submitting to directories or using social bookmarking? You can also add comments to similar blogs/sites. I know you've already tried this, but my favorite way of doing it is contacting similar blogs and sites and working on some link trades. I'd keep trying to get in touch with people that way as well.
here is a easy and i think still free option - sign up for linkblueprint.com - it was offered for free a month or so ago - it is sort of a link co-op. what you can do is grab some free plr/content and set up simple blogger blogs and you get credits for adding links from the co-op. you can then use these credits to get backlinks to your blog - use the main keyword as anchor text. you will mostly get pr0 backlinks but they will be from a diversified ip locations. also, try imautomator.com - again should be free - you can get some free social bookmarking to your site - mix it up to home page, specific pages/posts, etc. maybe at least join one related forum - add some good responses and when allowed, get some posts with your anchor text backlink in the sig file. google free directories and maybe add your site to 20 directories - not real effective any more but still might be worth it. bottom line is without some backlinking, your website will just float out there on the web and nobody will find you. good luck.
You can increase by slowly writing articles and submitting them to high PR sites like ezine articles, goarticles, squidoo, etc..
People spend a lot of time using social networking sites these days, and always looking to find new things. So you must have your business account at Social Networking site and try to build it. You can make a fan page and ask people coming at your site to like your fan page and keep them self updated with your new blog updates or business news. So, you must have your account/page at social networking sites.
If directories or blogs ask for a reciprocal link, you can put them all on one page e.g. links.php and noindex the page. In that case you won't lose pagerank juice to the linked websites, because Google won't even crawl links.php. It's tricky and not very kind, but it can work, the webmasters just check your page links.php and see their link, they're satisfied, not even checking if the page is indexed or if the links are nofollow. Kind of off-topic, but I just wanted to share this.
Hi, Thankyou all for the replies. I'll get on with the advice and hopefully start getting some traffic. Cheers
The best way? Generate content that users will want to link back to - why? So, you don't have to do so much link building out of your time, and plus, the more content that you have that's good, and is spread virally, then you won't have a problem with link building. Signature advertising seems like a great way to promote as well.
I personally don't agree about submitting to directories. I think they are a total waste of time and effort, except perhaps for yahoo which still seems to have some value or for some of the really top directories. Check them out at alexa.com first to see if theyre worth wasting your time.
Use social media, active in writing some article related to your website niche, then submit them to article site(eg ezine), social bookmark (digg) and your twitter
Some effective ways for link building are: Directory submission Article submission Social bookmarking Forum posting Blog commenting PR submission
there are tons of topics about this, u should use articles and social media more, social media could bring you a lot of traffic if you do it right
1)Make link baits 2)Create WEB 2 .0 properties 3)Engage In guest blogging 4)Article directory submission 5)Blog Commenting
I would recommend all these options, but you need to be able to connect and get high quality links from authority domains. Having the right anchor text is the most important thing. Remember this, and you will go far.
Most of the ideas are proactive and require your time and effort. If you want to collect fish, cast out your fishing net and the net does the work. If you want to collect links, put up a link directory that collects links while you sleep.
It seems you have very limited time for link building. You will not able to get top ranking without doing link building. Forum posting and blog commenting are very easy methods to build links. You need to join good forums and contribute. Nothing is easy.
