    Hi!

I have landed myself in a bit of confusion regarding the keyword density in the title tags.

Pls have a look at the three TITLE tags given below :

    CASE 1:
TITLE : Birthday Gifts, Birthday Presents From XYZ.com

    CASE 2:
TITLE : Birthday Gifts, Presents From XYZ.com

    CASE 3:
TITLE : Birthday Gifts And Presents From XYZ.com

It is evident from the above tags that i am targeting birthday gifts and birthday presents.

Could anybody pls tell me which of the above title tags is more effective.

I agree, just make sure that every other word isn't the same though, don't want to keyword stuff. If you can get teh actual phrases in you are targetting without appearing spammy then do that

    I myself prefer #3.

The first one seems a little redundant, as it mentions "birthday" twice.

Whereas #2 and #3 both mention your two targeted keyword phrases, without having to use "birthday" twice.

Can you use other variations as well, to create combinations that match other searches besides "birthday gifts" and "birthday presents"?

Try experimenting and see what works best for you.

I prefer case 3. It is not spammy. Experiment on it and you will find whats best for you.
    Good luck...

if you target 'birthday gifts' and 'birthday presents' then you must use both in your title which means that #1 is the best

concerning #2 and #3, only 'birthday gifts' will be seen as your relevant keyword

Wrong, depending on your backlinks/anchor text any would work.
Did you look at your competitiors in google here? the site at No.1 does not have "birthday gifts" in the title but ranks No.1 for it.

    All three could work fine.

he is talking about what keywords to include in his title!

i totally agree with you that with backlinks any keywords will work but that does not answer his question about the use of keywords in his title

In my opinion, I think using the same keyword twice in the title looks a bit spammy.

I don't know if it's ever been proven, but some people claim that search engines will penalize you for using the same keyword twice. Can anyone back this up?

I myself would focus more on the main body text. :)

'birthday gifts' and 'birthday presents' are not the same keywords even though they both contain 'birthday' in it

in the case of #1, it is ok

if his title was 'birthday gifts, birthday presents, birthday clowns, birthday cakes, birthday candles, birthday venues', then search engines would consider that spamming as 'birthday' is repeated many times

but if it is mentioned twice, that is not spamming
