Effective methods to find freelance copywriters?

First off, thanks for looking :)

The company I work for has two fulltime copywriters. Every once in a while a project comes up that our in-house staff simply doesn't have time to complete in a timely manner. For this reason I'd like to be able to draw on the talents of a freelance copywriter. The projects in question typically are single pre-sell/hosted content webpages placed on relevant websites, used for SEO. The pages are straightforward, written to compliment the content of the host website. They usually contain between 7 and 10 embedded links.

Is it possible to find a copywriter who is willing to take on such a small job? Any suggestions as to where to find them (right here, perhaps?)?

Thank you in advance for your help. This is the first time that I have ever needed this type of service-please forgive me if my questions sound a bit "newbish".

I've found sites such a scriptlance.com to be useful as well as Digitalpoint of course - there are plenty of freelance copywriters here

I have had some success on scriptlance and rentacoder. Like anything, researching what a writer has previously produced can be a mixed bag .. they won't give you the URLs of their "less than spectacular" articles.:)

And the old "you get what you pay for" is only partly true. New copywriters can do some pretty good work for a low rate .. although some editing and cleanup is often required.

I have also had mediocre articles from pricey writers.

Look for reputable companies that have had a good reputation for doing business in the copywriting arena. *cough*

Also, you can use elance, getafreelancer, and other freelance websites that allow you to bid out your projects.

And it's true, you do get what you pay for, so take that into account when you find someone that will do a 600 word article for $3, lol.
