I can personally remember many years ago, when I began to learn about search engine optimization and started on my journey to becoming a Google SEO Expert, by designing, developing, and optimizing my first websites. I did everything the "old-fashioned way," without the use a dynamic content management system (CMS). I developed and optimized websites from just custom hand-coded HTML files, using an HTML editor. ...at that time, over 12 years ago, Facebook did not even play a role in SEO at all, in-fact Google did not even index anything from Facebook, so basically it was nothing like today, because SM didn't play a role at all. in your opinion: How has social media changed search engine optimization from what it was in the past, into what it is today? ..and how important is SM to SEO in your website marketing strategy?
I post to LinkedIn, Facebook, and Google+. The runaway winner among them is Google+. Every time I post a link to my newest page on my Google+, with a short blurb about the content, the main keyword is typically on Google's first page of search results within five minutes or less! And indexing is almost instantaneous.
Very Nice!! - Jim, I have a few quick questions about how you use Google+ for SEO Do you use hashtags with Google+ to help with SEO? Do you like directly to webpages and/or mainly blog posts? Is the Google+ +1 option useful for helping with search engine optimization? Have you noticed a difference with SEO with Google+ when using +1 feature?
• No, I don't add hashtags. But Google+ tends to add them on their own. • I link directly to my webpages (don't have a blog). Example: https://plus.google.com/101260217315226936372/posts/DQUtHKaLpR9 • The +1 option may help, but I don't use it. There are so many things out there we could use, I just choose to be selective.
It is always better to add relevant has tags before posting any type of content on social media. Make sure that you are adding just one or two relevant hash tags, avoid adding too many hash tags.
I agree.. I normally like to add 1 or 2 hash tags normally to maximize the effectiveness of optimizing Tweets and posts on Google+
Posting your content to right groups, communities on Facebook or LinkedIn is the best free way to get quality traffic to your new website. It just takes much effort on creating quality content and sharing them
Yes, midnightblur, I think you have hit the nail on the head with your response.. It's always very important to have quality content behind any link. Some webmasters and website owners often have trouble harnessing the power of content in relation to internal and external search engine optimization. Creating unique and original is not always most difficult part of SEO, but organizing content properly seems to be what lacks consideration, during the web development and SEO processes. Taking the time to think out these processes, can be well worth the time spent.. Especially when sharing links with properly organized content on social media networks to help with search engine optimization.
Better go with hashtags (this is a way to TARGET visitors!) → will help you for some extra visitors! By the way, it would be powerful if you build backlinks to your inner pages!
In my view, social media didn't help me in higher rankings but it helped me to get social attention and traffic.
