Hi all, i'm desperately trying to find new ways to promote my jewellery & gifts website uneakboutique.co.uk anyone got any good ideas? I've tried google ad words without much success and magazine advertising is so expensive! Anyone know of any good but cheap magazines to advertise in? Less than £200 per ad with a decent readership. All help greatly appreciated!!
There are several ways to promote your website. You can post related articles for example about stones, their features, etc (some people believe that stones and metals have special abilities to effect on the persons who wear them) and publish them on such websites as enzenearticles.com or squidoo.com with back links to your website. You can also make multiple forum postings about your product. It takes a lot of time, but it helps a lot. Many website owners outsource this job, they simply hire a freelancer to do it for them. By the way your website is very beautiful. Good luck!
Thanks that's a great idea I'll give that a try. Had a very disheartening day today - not feeling so great! Given up on the magazine advertising - I think most of them don't give a stuff about your business and just about a fast buck! Been having ok results with Google Ad Words actually, even though im not totally sure how to use it! I seem to be coming up near the top of the page everyday so I'm pleased with that. 'm spending around 30 pounds per week and really need to increase that to 50 I think for better results. I'll get there I know but its just so much of a slower process without a huge marketing budget! The customers we've had to date have loved their orders and our service, and most have ordered again already, it's just getting enough people to visit the site. We've spent almost 12 months building it - my husband has an IT business so at least that is an area where Ive saved! I'm glad you like it we're very proud of it - she's my baby haha! Takes up more of my time than a child would I like! I even have the sleepless nights!! Cant complain though I love the freedom of working for myself - just hope I can make a success of it! many thanks.
I operate a successful ecommerce website and would like to make a couple of suggestions....but before I do I would like to say the site looks great and you shouldn't have any problems selling items. • PPC is going to get you quick visitors, you can track these potential customers through your analytics to figure out where people are leaving your site etc. • When using PPC it isn't always good to be at the top, or on the front page. Although sales can be higher when your ad is on the front page, the bottom line will be less due to the cost of these ads. • Consider employing an SEO specialist (we are lucky as this is my background so everything is done in house). With an SEO specialist on board you can start to get visitors to your site for minimal costs. Getting the help of an SEO specialist may not be as much as you think either. • And last but no means least - create readable URLs, your chosen SEO specialist will certainly advise this. These are just a couple of tips which may benefit you, if you have any questions please feel free to shoot me a PM, Good luck!!
That's fantastic thank you! we've done a bit of SEO as my husband is in IT but it definitely needs more thought and attention. I'll check out all the things you've suggested and run them by my other half. He'll understand what you just said way better than me haha! great advice though thanks! And thanks for your feed back on the site that's reassuring even though we have a long way to go! But it's great people like it, just need more people to see it! have a great weekend!
I would suggest you run banner ads in relevant sites, blogs, forums, on facebook. As you site is about jewellery ppl who click more if they view your beautiful pieces rather just plain text ads. But most important you should optimize the site for your relevant keywords and promote them for best results in long run.. Thank you
Yeah think I'll def look at more online advertising rather than press. Its cheaper too most of the time! cheers
You can use the methods you know synthetically, but don't be eager about the effect. For no matter which method you use, you can not get effect in quite short time. At least you should wait for a period of time, then you will know which is better. Anyway, wish you good luck.
I'm learning that the hard way I think! I just expected it to totally take off from day one - how naive was i ?!! We've only been going since may and I now have three ok months of sales under my bel,t but I'm hoping the next three months will be better. I think it must take a good 12 months to see the results if not more but we're getting there! Just slowly thats all! thanks for the feedback.
you can approach free classifieds sites for marketing or can post on some minimum rate classifieds sites.
Yeah we registered with a lot of the shopping directory type sites when we first started and I'm looking into minimum rate stuff at the mo. Not sure how effective it will be for us but I'm willing to give it a try! You have to be so careful as well though as we had quite a few companies try and rip us off with very ineffective advertising methods which sounded great at the time! We've learnt a lot in the short time we've been going and definitely dodged a few bullets!!
