effect of title tag written as a question?

Is there any evidence that a title tag written as a question gets treated specially? For example, "What is a home equity line of credit?" instead of just "Home equity line of credit". The theory being that if a search engine interprets this as a "definition" or FAQ page, then perhaps it ranks it differently.

    thanks

I believe this very much depends on the query keywords entered by the users into the search engine.

Your SERP rankings for the "What is ...." will be higher if a FAQ-type query is entered and vice versa.

It really boils down to what are you targeting eventually :)

I see. So if I use a title "What is a dingo?", it'll match searches for "What is a dingo?", etc. Makes sense. :)

    thanks
