Hi I have a PR3 website. I was wondering, if I buy a link on a PR7 website(related to mine) which only link to 10 other sites, one or two month before the Google Toolbar Pagerank update, would I see an big difference to my PR on the toolbar after the update? Thanks
To add, there was just a post speaking to google's ability to spot and discount paid text links based on a Matt Cutt's blog post.
Imo you should work on your serp instead of a high pagerank. I'd rather have a website with low pr but high traffic, than buying one link from a high pr and get some pr to your website.. and then what? traffic is still zero but you have a high pr.. Anyway good luck..
Did you see the note in a later blog about PR's not contributing to PR too? I kinda figured that was the case, but it was interesting none the less.
My guess is that you should definately get a boost to PR4 - possibly PR5. However PR seems to be of less and less value these days, so don't concentrate on it to much - although if the like is from a topic website then that is a great bonus.
Well, when text-link-ads.com does a huge branding campaign...kinda hard for Google not to take notice. I have no doubt that Google knows about a majority of their text links. Do they still help? Yes. Are they as good as they were last year? No. Other options? Don't use brokers. Obviously, with good positions in Google for Buy Text Links, you're not going JUST want to go with Text-Link-Ads.com, TextLinkBrokers.com, etc... Visit forums and other places where your niche congregate. Get links on sites (within your niche) that haven't done any text link advertising. You'll get good rates and the benefit that Google won't know they're purchased.
I think Voasi`s post makes good sense. "G" cannot possibly know or claim to know the motivation of each webmaster. They can however identifiy a group or entity who is known to sell links and then assume that other links on their pages are purchased
Alright, don't laugh at me to much but what is "niche"? Sounds like, by reading in the forums that it means like within your category or subject. Am I right? Webster's Dictionary definition is "A recess or alcove in a wall, usually used for displays.
I believe definitions 3b and 4a are related. Organisms in a habitat compete for resources and are able to survive by finding an ecological 'niche' that allows them to find food and reproduce without heavy competition from other organisms. In a similar way, sites within your niche in the Web are seeking income in similar ways, and you can compete with them or cooperate with them (linking to each other).
