    Hello,

Will exchanging links with websites having similar IP address have any negative effects?

    Thanks in advance

    Regards,

Similar IP as in the same IP or similar as in the same C block? I'd say that if you have several sites with similar content on the same IP address then yeah its pretty obvious to Google what you are trying to do but if you have different IPs on the same C then I wouldn't worry unless you are doing something so obvious that pretty much screams "HEY I am trying to manipulate your index with my IPs! come and get me!"

I can explain as I had same idea.
Since it's an easy parameter to give distance.
A simple formula like even numeric (IP) - numeric(IP)
The smalles the closer are the IP.
So the highest the IP difference the more valuable should be if the idea is that someone from the other part of the world is more an arm's lenght friend....

if too many sites from same ip links each other, thats link farm. you dont wanna do that. If its just two sites, thats no problem.

No negative effects, but exchange between sites with same IP has slightly smaller effect than with different IP for ranks

Basically yes, the value a link from the same C IP class address has is less than a different class. So if you are thinking to build your network all on the same server, I would like to persuade you.

If too much traffic is coming from same IP then it can cause some problems.
