Hi folks, I am quite aware of the advantages of allowing "do follow" blog comments e.g. enhanced traffic, increased content etc I am also aware of the disadvantages of allowing "do follow" blog comments e.g. increased spamming, passing link juice etc But the fine point i want to clarify is whether passing link juice to the commenter equates to bleeding page rank from the blog owner or the link juice is passed without bleeding the page rank of the blog owner. If the page rank of the blog owner is bled in the process of passing link juice to the commenter, how significant is this bleeding in comparison to the benefits of "do follow" in enhancing PR through such factors as enhancing content? Is it a net reduction from PR? Thank you for your views.
Yes, it will bleed the PR of the pages where comments are posted. But it all depends on what you're trying to accomplish, if you want more traffic or more PR on internal pages.
I remember that when my blog was not yet do follow no one is commenting but when I enable do follow commenter came out and write comment even if its off topic. lol
It is a misconception of page rank here. Dofollow blogs certainly help you gather traffic and more comments which will indirectly increase contents of each blog post on your blog. The value of page rank does not bleed if you give dofollow link to your commentators. It just pass the pagerank value towards them. But, if you have have nofollow link, just like the default system in CMS, page rank will will flushed away. The point of having dofollow blog is to give credit of page rank flow to our commentators who gives some contribution in increasing our content network. But, the misconception here is dofollow blogs lead to bleeding page rank. Even, if you use nofollow links, pagerank flows out of your site, simply flushing away. You need to go through this slowly http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/pagerank-sculpting/ to understand better on page rank flow in your blog or website. The only negative point that I seen from dofollow blogs is moderation. Dofollow blogs needs good moderation. It is not spam comments, but the link used by commentators. Make sure they are not linked to any bad neighborhood sites which may lead to penalty. If you can check each commentators link on your dofollow blog, then it may be easy to manage a dofollow blog. Hope this clears your doubt.
Page rank is only depend on the inbound links. Outbound links will not affect page ranks. That's really a misconception. You have to allow blog comments for more visitors, interactions, and more content. Try to enable any captcha on your comments, and moderate them.
Thank you all for your views. @Atniz - I seem to conclude from your post that you are saying do follow comment links do not bleed but only pass page rank but the two quotes above seems to suggest that you are saying no follow comment links bleed and pass page rank. Or what do you mean by flushing away ? Does that mean bleeding or passing or both? Can you clarify this please?
